Transcribe 0.1 released

I've released the initial version of a new project I've started, Transcribe, which allows you to import data from a number of flat files into tables and views in a database.

The initial version is restricted to importing from CSV files into Access Databases, but should be extendable to go from anything to anything.  Installers and documentation can be found on the Transcribe page.

Internet Health Monitor 0.4 re-released

Thursday 1st July 2010

For those of you who've ever had the misfortune to use the deployment projects in Visual Studio, you'll know that they're a bit naff and underpowered for doing anything interesting during the installation routine.  You may also be aware of WiX, Windows Installer XML, which is an open source project from Microsoft that aims to create a toolset that can take an XML file and convert it into a Windows Installer database.

I've been playing with WiX over the past few days to build a new installer for the Internet Health Monitor which combines both the service and client into one simple installation database, which includes basic configuration.

You can find the release on the project's page.
